Anti Discrimination Session

Dear Members U3A

As an Incorporated body it is imperative as many as possible attend the following Anti-Discrimination Session.- We all have some information on Australia’s anti-discrimination law. In Australia, it is unlawful to discriminate on the basis of a number of protected attributes including age, disability, race, sex, intersex status, gender identity and sexual orientation in certain areas of public life, including education and employment. The legislation makes it illegal to discriminate against someone on the basis of certain characteristics. Discrimination means treating someone unfairly or unfavourably because of a personal characteristic as mentioned above.

The 2 hour session is interactive with activities around real cases or scenarios and plenty of time for questions and discussions.

We have secured the following arrangements for the Telephone/video conference Linkup for Anti Discrimination.

CQU (Ooralea Campus) in Building 6, Room G.03
29th November, 2018 from 2pm to 4pm.

For those travelling on the Mackay-Sarina Road, turn into Boundary Road at the lights towards Woolworths Shopping Centre. Turn left into University Drive from Boundary Road and Building 6 is the last building in University Drive near the roundabout. There is ample parking past the roundabout in the car park.

Ongoing Government requirements are beyond our control and as an incorporated body, we have no other options, other than to follow up on all necessary Government requirements. U3A Mackay is accepting, caring, friendly and inclusive. We are proud to be involved in such a warm and supportive community. For that, we must ensure that we provide a safe and comfortable environment to all our members.

Thank you to all those who will be able to attend – please indicate by return email – yes or no to attending to
