Garden Group

If you want to know what to plant and when, then join the Garden Group.

We meet once a month, the 3rd Wednesday at 3.00 pm at 60 Wellington Street. We often have a guest speaker who instructs us about a particular subject, eg. the head gardener from the Orchid House. Please bring your afternoon tea with you and a gold coin donation for the use of the venue. Sometimes we do not meet at Wellington Street as we visit private gardens, where we learn a lot.

I do hope all are well and your gardens are doing OK with the weather. I know I am finding it a little hard- one just has to cut back on some of the outside work in the garden till it cools down. I would like to thank the Garden Group members who were able to make it to our meeting at 60 Wellington Street on the 13th February. We had a great get together. We also got things in place for the rest of the year. “Thank You”.
In March it will be at my home 1 Sweeney Court, Glenella at 3pm on the 20th March. At the last meeting it was totally agreed that, after years of holding our meetings at 2 pm, we should now change the time to 3 pm on the third Wednesday of the month. I do hope that for any members who couldn’t make it to our first meeting of the year, that this new time will be okay.
We will be having a Workshop on “Planting New Plants in Pots” on the 20th March at 3 pm. Pots plus plants plus soil will be given to the members taking part. You will be getting a great result to take home with you. Also if you are a member of the U3A Garden Group, there will be free sharpening of most tools that are used in garden work – just bring them with you to the Workshop. You must be a member of this Group. As most people are aware, there is now another U3A Garden Group.
I’d love some smoko to enjoy after our Workshop. Chairs, milk, tea and coffee will be supplied. Look forward to seeing you.
Good Gardening
