Join us for a delightful, fun, stress-free morning in a relaxed atmosphere. We play surprisingly simple games such as Canasta, Whist, Euchre, 500, Rummy, Hand and Foot, Pennies from Heaven and many different games based on Rummy. We also play Bridge.
Exercising our brains while having fun is paramount.

Please call Jackie Sherriff on 0438 575 230 for any enquiries
The Cards group has accepted the offer to use the air conditioned hall at Seniors starting Monday 14th February. Our thanks to Senior Citizens for making this hall available, and for arranging the tables wel need to make our Cards day go well.
All players please note that access will be through the main front door of Senior Citizens. Looking forward to seeing everyone for a 9.00 am start.
Confirming that we now have 2 cards groups, details as follows:
Monday 9 am till 12 NOON, every Monday excluding Public Holidays
Senior Citizens Hall, Macalister St
Co-ordinator: Jackie Sherriff. with assistant co-ordinator to be confirmed.
Player numbers are capped at 50 for now (we will be happy to host more than 30 players, currently mid 20’s)
Tuesday 1 pm till 4.45 pm (specified dates, please see note below)
Gordon White Library Community Venue, Phillip St, Mt Pleasant
Co-ordinator: Rosemary Penfold , Assistant Co-ordinator: Carol Hamilton
Player numbers permitted by Council in this venue is 16.
GWL have booked this venue on several Tuesdays for Council/Library use and the dates available to U3A in February/March are –
February: 9th and 16th
March: 16th, 23rd and 30th.
A booking will be made on 1st March for use of the venue for April, May and June. We have been advised that not all Tuesday’s will be available in that quarter and when the booking is accepted we will be advised in writing as to available dates and times. We are hoping for very few interruptions – we were also hoping for approval for 24 players but the venue is following the 4 metre per person rule, permitting 16 players.
Library staff have advised that from 1st July we can expect to have the use of the venue on most Tuesday’s, but not all Tuesday’s.
I know it is not ideal but if we don’t accept what is offered, we will not have access to the venue in the future. For the elderly players who live in the vicinity of GWL and who have not played for 11 months, it is important that U3A continues cards at GWL Community Venue. The room is cool and comfortable, players use the garden for afternoon tea which is a great social opportunity, and are welcome to pick herbs etc in the garden to add to their evening meal.
Sorry to ramble on, I hope this information is helpful.
To select 16 players from 32 who have asked to play at GWL is not easy. Rosemary and Carol intend giving everyone on the list a chance throughout the year. Currently there are 4 tables of 4 players, Bridge, Crib, 500 and Canasta.
